Kaisa Kukkonen, dancer, teacher, dance maker, producer.
She studied Movement and Performance Research at North Carelia College Outokumpu and has a BA in Culture and Arts from Metropolia School of Applied Sciences.
Kaisa is from the countryside of Finland and has a strong connection to berries, forest and lakes. Her work is influenced by the technique and community of contact improvisation especially through her teachers Joerg Hassmann and Christine Mauch, the movement practice of Deborah Hay and Non Violent Communication. The somatic practices of authentic movement, Body Mind Centering and improvisation came to her life mostly from teachers like Katariina Vähäkallio and Pia Lindy.
Her latest collaborations include; a feminist performance project “Maybe I Lay on Your Belly Forever” with Diana Thielen about agency and vulnerability; creating a set of questions about teaching ethics in contact improvisation with Anya Cloud; voice and movement improvisation group TRIOT with Heini Nukari and Elina Hauta-aho; and working as a collaborator with artist Jeanne van Heeswijk on her work “Not Yet”. She has worked as a producer of festivals in the field of dance and media arts (Helsinki Meeting Point 2012/2013, HETKI festival 2018/2019, MFF 2014/2015) as well as in projects about collaborative and public art (m-cult 2016-2018).
She enrolled to MA CoDE program at HfMDK in Frankfurt 2019.
