Michael Steven Carman was born in Augsburg and has the Hungarian and American citizenship. He studied at the Ballet Academy in the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main.
In recent years he has worked in the context of internships with Staatstheater Mainz, Tanzcompany Rostock, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz/Bayerische Staatsoper , theatre of St. Gallen, the Hessisches Staatsballett, Staatsballett Oldenburg, Ballett Kiel, Thüringer Staatsballett, The Royal Ballet of Flanders, Scapino Ballet, Gauthier Dance Company and Zurich Ballet.
Michael Steven Carman was invited to numerous summer schools, among others at the Palucca Hochschule for Dance Dresden, at the ballet of the Dortmund Theatre and at the summer school P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels, as well as masterclasses of Kylian and Forsythe repertory in Amsterdam and Zurich.
He received important artistic impulses in collaboration with the choreographers or works of Ayman Harper, Stephanie Thiersch, Menghan Lou, Georg Reischl, Luciano Cannito, Alexander Ekman and Marco Goecke.
With his own ensemble "Carman and Company" he debuted 2017 successfully as a choreographer of the program "It's a perspective thing". As part of this project he worked with more than 25 artists in the fields of music, dance, acting and directing and created three new pieces (Incubus, A change of mind, Symbiosis).
Michael Steven Carman is a fellow of the Evangelisches Studienwerk e.V. Villigst. From the 2017/2018 season on - already in his third year of studies and fourth year of dancing - he was Tanzeleve/Corps de ballet at the Ballet Chemnitz.
He continued his work with Ballett Chemnitz for the season of 2018/2019 and was named a guest soloist with Ballett Flensburg for the seasons 2018/2019 and 2019/2020.
In december he signed a contract for working as a dancer with the Opera House Zürich for season 2019/2020.
In august 2020 Michael Steven Carman was admissioned for medical studies in all german cities after being placed as one of the best applications in Germany.
He officially announced entering Goethe University Frankfurt in september shortly after.

Hochschulpolitik
Michael Steven Carman setzt sich an der Hochschule für eine Vernetzung aller Künstler und Interdisziplinarität ein. Hierfür sucht er stets den Dialog zum Austausch der hochschulpolitischen Organe und Gruppen. Zum Wintersemester 16/17 wurde er zum AStA-Vize Vorsitzenden ernannt, im Sommersemester 17 zum AStA Vorsitzenden der HfMDK berufen. Zum SS 17 wurde er zudem in den Fachbereichsrat 3 und Senat gewählt. Bis April 2019 war er neben seinem Engagement Fachbereichsrat und Senator der Hochschule.
Im März 2019 wurde er zum Fachsprecher der Gruppe Künste/Musik/Theater am Evangelischen Studienwerk ernannt und wirkt am Auswahlverfahren neuer Stipendiaten mit.
