The examination consists of several sections.
The first section consists of an assignment in which the applicant must complete the following tasks related to theater directing:
The written assignment will be evaluated by at least two examiners.
The 2nd section consists of an oral examination. This will include an interview in which the applicant will be asked questions relating to his/her personality and general education as well as a conversation about the staging concept submitted and other assignments designed to give an impression of the applicant.
Applicants will only be admitted to the oral examination if they pass the written assignment. The oral examination will likewise be evaluated by at least two examiners. The examination will extend over a whole day.
Applicants will only be admitted to the 3rd section of the examination if they pass the oral examination. The 3rd section consists of several practical stage production tasks and lasts one day.
It is recommended that applicants do a one-year internship at a state or municipal theater or a comparable activity in the framework of professional experimental forms of theater and organization or spend a longer period working in a theatrical profession.
