The intensive personal, artistic and academic supervision of students, the combination of theory and practice, and the many cooperation projects between Departments and with external partners are the hallmark of the high-quality education offered by the HfMDK’s three Departments and are what makes the HfMDK Frankfurt am Main a special place to study.
Department 1 comprises the subject areas: Instrumental Studies (Teaching and Performance) and Conducting, Instrumental Studies (Focus: Teaching), Historical Interpretation Practice, and Church Music and currently has more than 400 students.
Department 2 covers the subject area Teaching Degrees, Academic Studies and Composition as well as research disciplines and music theory .
Department 3 - Performing Arts - represents the broad artistic spectrum of the performing arts with its many fields and genres both in public institutions and on the free arts scene and comprises the subject areas: Singing, Acting, Dance (consisting of a B.A. program in Dance and an M.A. program in Contemporary Dance Education), and Performing Arts Management and Directing (consisting of a B.A. program in Directing in Theater and an M.A. program in Performing Arts and Music Management).
