Ioulia Kokkokiou, is a dancer and teacher originally from Greece. Born in 1988, she studied History and Archaeology at the Aristotle University in Thessaloniky and Dance at a private dance school. During her studies, she met teachers as D.Kyanidis, D.Iordanidis and A.Progidi, who introduced her to several dance subjects (ballet, Graham and Hawkins technique, choreography, music). Moreover, she participated in various workshops by choreographers such as C.Strinopoulos, Dafnis Kokkinos and others.
Her studies in History and Dance, the exchange with her students while teaching, as well as social issues, play an important role in her dance development. In 2011, I. Kokkokiou, came in touch with Rena Papadopoulou and Despoina Stamath. In three years they together created several choreographic pieces such as “Choreographing Bach” and “Insomnia”. Since last year, Ioulia lives in Germany, where she collaborated with Maria Eckert, Emmanuel Gazquez and with the members of the Delattre Dance Company.
In Oktober 2016 she enrolled in the Master of Contemporary Dance Education at HfMDK.
