The University library holds some 120,000 media units, including around 80,000 music scores, 25,000 books and 15,000 sound recordings and videos.
The media collection is presented according to the local Classification System and can be searched in the Online Catalogue (OPAC) of the HfMDK:

Borrowing and Access
Students and academic staff of the University may borrow from the library, any external persons interested may use the library for reference only and may not borrow books. For details see the Terms of Library Use.
E-Journals and Online-Databases

The library also keeps some bequests from musicians, including those of Bernhard Sekles, composer and former Principal of the University, and of violinist and violin teacher Gustav Lenzewski from Frankfurt. Use of the bequests is possible only by prior arrangement with the library management.
The holdings of the library are presented in order of the local classification system which allows a search for subject (books) or scoring (sheet music).
