Fund raising at the HfMDK

During the years from 2005 to 2007 fund raising at the HfMDK was still in the developmental phase as the university extended its network out into the city and the surrounding communities. Many partnerships and collaboration projects, patronages and the very much in demand artists agency are the result of this development.

Fund raising is now an integral part of the work at the HfMDK and apparent in and out of the University. It is based on three pillars: collaboration with private persons, with foundations and with sponsors. The number of university projects that are financed by third parties has grown steadily. In the year 2005 we had eight such projects, in 2006 sixteen, twenty-five in 2007, growing to 40 in 2008. The project dimensions range from tiny to really large-scale.

Since 2007 both private individuals and companies have joined to support the HfMDK in the non-profit-making association "Friends of the University" ("Gesellschaft der Freunde und Förderer der Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main"). They support workshops, master classes, guest conductors, guest professors, bursaries for talented beginners, among others, the purchase of special instruments (double bass, bassoon, contrabassoon and bass trombone) and construction works.
