Born in Augsburg, Michael Steven Carman (* 1994) is a Hungarian and US citizen and has been studying the bachelor's program "Contemporary and Classical Dance" at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt since the winter semester 2015/2016.
With his own ensemble "Carman and Company" he made his successful debut this year as a choreographer with the program "It's a perspective thing". As part of this project, he worked with over 20 artists from music, dance, acting and directing and created three new choreographies: "Incubus", "A change of mind" and "Symbiosis". In the spring of 2017, Michael Carman was admitted to one of the renowned state gifted education organizations and has since received a scholarship from the Evangelische Studienstiftung Villigst.
In the last year he worked and trained as part of an internship with the Dance Company of TanzMainz at the Staatstheater Mainz and the Hessian State Ballet.
He received numerous invitations and scholarships to dance summer schools such as the Summer Ballet School at the Palucca University of Dance in Dresden (2016), the Summer School PARTS Rosas dans Rosas in Brussels (2017) and the Summer Ballet School of the Dortmund Ballet (2017) , There he worked with famous people like Alan Bottaini, Y. Dubreuil, Liza Penkov and Macha Daudel.
He received important artistic impulses through his work with the choreographers Ayman Harper (Forsythe Company / Frankfurt Ballet), Mia Johannson (Hannover Ballet / Wiesbaden State Theater) and Georg Reischl (Scapino Ballet / Forsythe Company). Other important teachers include Nora Kimball-Mentzos, Prof. Susanne Noodt, Prof. Andrea Tallis and Valentin Fanel.
Michael Carman also devotes himself passionately to flamenco dancing in addition to classic styles.
